Collaborative Law

Collaborative Divorce can remove some of the strife of divorce.

Collaborative Law in New York is similar to mediation in the fact that there is a commitment where both parties agree to dispense with litigation. However, each party hires their own specially-trained collaborative law attorney. The parties and their respective attorneys commit to resolution of disputes through meetings and conferences which continue until all issues including finances and child custody/support, etc. are resolved and memorialized by agreement.

Collaborative law is an excellent tool for a non-litigious party who seeks to mediate but may feel that the bargaining power will be more equivalent should each party have their own representative to speak on his/her behalf.

At Keil & Siegel LLP, we work consistently with other attorneys to settle such cases in a collaborative law setting.
